The IDF (Israel Defence Force) have stepped up bombing of Gaza in what it calls expansion of it's operations within the Gaza Strip. It is near impossible to get a real account of what is happening on the ground as Israel has knocked out both internet and mobile communications at the time of the assault. An Israeli military spokesperson has urged those left in Gaza City to flee south to avoid the bombing which is says are on Hamas targets. Hamas as retaliating with rocket attacks on two Israeli cities along the border. The United Nations General Assembly has called for an immediate cease fire and true, whilst Israel's closest Aly the United States has called for pauses to hostilities on both sides to allow critically needed aid to reach those in need in Gaza. The UN has also called for an unconditional release of all hostages held by Hamas. The White House is following events very, very closely, it says.
