I like a bit of culture and sometimes, not always I have to venture into Manchester for my proverbial fix, and so it was that I jumped on the tram to see a new photographic exhibition I had been hearing so much about. The exhibition, Rescued Time is by the incredibly talented David Gleave showcases some of his 300 photographs many of them taken in Manchester the others from his travels around the globe spanning ten years. For me the Manchester photographs many of them, his close friends and "faces" around town are the highlight of the show they are fascinating, I was studying some of them for several minutes it was if I knew them, I don't but.... I love street photography and David says he was influenced by Samuel Coulthurst a Manchester photographer from the Edwardian era, you may recognise the photos he took of the Flat Iron Market on Chapel Street. Coulthurst, yes but I think it it would be fair to say Henri Besson, Martin Parr, and Tom Wood in my opinion...but what do I know. Do yourself a favour go and see this exhibition you won't be disappointed I can guarantee that and David I doff my oversized cap! The exhibition is in the Upper Gallery at the Central Library, Manchester until March 2024, with free entry, open normal library times. Photos: David Gleave
