Proposals to refurbish two student tower blocks and build a third in Pendleton have been submitted for planning approval. The student accommodation operator and developer 'Campus Living Villages' is looking to add an additional 104 bed spaces to two existing 15 storey towers located on Belvedere Road, as well as add a new build 24 storey tower providing an additional 690 beds should approval be given. As part of the scheme, extensions would be added to the top of both Eddie Coleman Court and John Lester Court with the additional tower being built on land in between them. The tower blocks were originally a trio but Walter Greenwood Court was demolished to make way for Pendletons new police station, leaving the two remaining blocks still standing. In total 794 additional spaces would be provided as part of the Pendleton scheme. A decision on the proposal is expected in March of 2024.
