Greater Manchester Police have issued an update this afternoon which says that a man arrested over a stabbing which took place in Irlam over the weekend has been released from custody without charge and with no further action is to be taken. A male was arrested following what police said was a stabbing incident which took place outside of Irlam and Cadishead Leisure Centre at around 6:15am on the morning of (Saturday 9th December) whereupon they found a male having suffered what was said to be a superficial cut to his leg. He was transported to hospital for treatment but the injury is not considered to be life threatening. In a statement released at the time a spokesperson for GMP, said: "At approximately 6.15am on Saturday 9 December 2023, police attended a report of a stabbing that occurred in the car park of Irlam Leisure Centre, Liverpool Road." "On arrival officers found the male victim with a cut to his leg and he has been treated at hospital for superficial injuries. Another male was arrested at the scene on suspicion of assault and remains in custody for questioning."
