A Greater Manchester Transport Police patrol in Salford became involved in a high speed pursuit late last night as officers, whilst out conducting a mobile patrol on Liverpool Road, Irlam, spotted a vehicle reaching speeds of over 100mph in a 30 zone, narrowly avoiding colliding a passing vehicle. The pursuit was called off due to safety concerns but with the assistance of Police helicopter the vehicle was located on a street in Cadishead and Police arrested a male at the scene. Police say that although they understand that the use of the Police helicopter late at night can be unsettling for some people, it is another tool to try and keep the local community and people safe, on this occasion locating a highly dangerous individual. The male remains in custody for questioning.
