Police have launched an investigation this evening after a women was seriously assaulted at Exchange key Metrolink station in Salford. Specialist officers from Greater Manchester Police's Transport Unit responded to reports of a female having been knocked unconscious and left lying on the tram tracks. Police say that officers have conducted an extensive area search and CCTV enquiries resulting in a male being arrested not far from the location.
