An investigation by detectives from Salford’s Child Protection Investigation Unit into reported sexual abuse has resulted in a man being charged with multiple offences. Carl Jones (15/02/1967) of Little Hulton has been charged with multiple sexual offences including rape of a child under 13, attempted rape of a child under 13, and sexual activity with a child under 13. He will appear at Manchester and Salford Magistrates Court tomorrow (Thursday 2 May 2024). Breakdown of charges: Nine counts of rape of a child under 13. One count of attempted rape of a child under 13. Two counts of causing a child under 13 to watch/look at an image of sexual activity. Three counts of causing/inciting a child under 13 to engage in sexual activity – no penetration. Fifteen counts of assault of a child under 13 by touching. Four counts of assault of a child under 13 years of age by penetration. One count of engaging in sexual activity in the presence of a child under 13. Four counts of indecent assault on a child under the age of 16 years. One count of engaging in penetrative sexual activity with a child aged 13 to 15 years. In March this year (2024), police were contacted regarding the welfare of a child and concerns about possible sexual exploitation. Detectives from their Child Protection Investigation Unit launched an investigation.
