Lordy Park on Lord Street in Cadishead has reopened following an arson attack in April of this year which resulted in extensive damage to the much loved play area which has cost a staggering £25,000 to repair. The fire damaged wooden beams as well as the parks surface which left it out of use until repairs could be funded and undertaken. Local councillors Yolande Amana-Ghola, Hannah Robinson-Smith, and Lewis Eric Nelson reopened the park earlier today alongside the City Mayor Paul Dennett. We visited the park shortly after the arson attack to speak to local councillor Lewis Nelson and Craig from the Friends of Lordy Park group. The park underwent a £90,000 upgrade in late 2021 with new play equipment including a wheelchair accessible roundabout, swings for children with disabilities or parents and toddlers, a new adventure trail and a safer rubber surface underneath. The attack which took place in the evening of the 4th April 2023, left the whole community angered and outraged. Main Photo: Salford Mayor via Facebook
