‘SWINTON SOUNDS’ RETURNS WITH FULL WEEKEND OF FREE LIVE MUSIC

    SHARE |

After a successful launch in 2023, Swinton Sounds is back with an even bigger weekend of FREE pop-up music, performance and fun, taking audiences on a journey spanning the park, the pub, the precinct, and for this year… the town’s Grand Palais.

Across three days from Friday 31 May to Monday 2 June, some of the region’s most vibrant cultural creators will all be in town - with an opening evening show from The Untold Orchestra band at the Grand Palais ballroom, Sounds From The Other City festival bringing brand new music artists to Victoria Park’s historic bandstand, and an exclusive premiere performance of the BBC Philharmonic’s latest CBeebies Musical Story The Enormous Turnip in Swinton Square shopping centre. Local bars House of Hops and The Wobbly Stool will host live music evenings with performers including Gideon Conn and Séamus Óg, and Walk the Plank’s giant roaming magpie ‘Collector’ puppet will be popping up across the weekend.

Artist Lowri Evans invites people to time travel through key moments in Swinton Square’s history, Salford Mad Pride and the Lowry Show Selectors will present a very special Citizens Assembly on Climate Change, and there will be arts and crafts from Swinton-based Arts Let Loose, along with much more.

Councillor John Merry, Chair of the Swinton Project Board, said:
“It’s great to see Swinton Sounds returning, building on the relationships it developed in the local community last year, and once again bringing a really diverse range of music and entertainment across the town.

"Swinton has plenty to celebrate and has the potential to be one of the best places to live in Greater Manchester. Local people have told us they want to see a more vibrant Swinton, with more going on - and more reasons for people to visit and spend their leisure time in the area. This exciting weekend of music is part of a programme of events developed in response to that community ambition - and is a great opportunity for people to explore the town and experience something new.”
